At major race meetings such as State and National titles the governing body O.R.R.C.A. strictly apply a set of standard rules. These rules cover things like car and wing dimensions, minimum vehicle weight, motor specifications, track standards, driver conduct, etc.
At club meetings the rules regarding technical specifications
are largely relaxed in order to ensure as many people as possible
can join in the fun.
Official
Rules
The official rules for racing are provided by ORRCA
Qld and can be found at www.orrcaqld.org.au
just follow the links where applicable.
Club Rules
The following guidelines are designed to ensure that a fair and fun event can be enjoyed by all. Please take the time to familiarise yourselves. TMORC reserves the right to refuse entry to any person for any event.
GENERAL SAFETY
No person is allowed on the track (except officials) while the race is in progress.
Closed toe shoes must be worn by everyone within the official race area ie: track and surround, pits, officials area etc. Under no circumstances will sandals, thongs etc. be allowed.
A First Aid kit is kept at race control, if you are injured please seek help.
All participants and spectators must observe the instructions and warnings by the Race Director and Officials.
RACE DAY(Off-road)
The track will open for practice on the race day at approximately 4.00pm with racing commmencing at 5pm sharp. Race order for classes will be determined on the day by the meet director.
A driver may compete in any of the classes but additional fees
are payable per classes.
4 rounds will be held for each class.
Grid position for the first heat will be randomanly drawn with subsequent
positions for the remaining rounds determined according to the race
finish position, fastest in grid position 1.
POINTSCORE
TMORC will hold a season championship consisting of 8-10 race meetings.
(depending on weather)
Unfinancial entrants cannot participate in the club pointscore.
MININUM NUMBERS OF COMPETITORS
The minimum number of drivers for each class is 3, for points to be allocated as part of the season pointscore.
MARSHALLING
Drivers must marshall the race after the one they compete in and must assume a marshalling position at least one (1) minute prior to commencement of any racing. Marshals are asked to check that the track layout does not require any re-arrangement. As a Marshall you must remain alert and attenttive to ensure that no driver is disadvantaged. A Marshall may nominate a suitable replacement if they are unable to take their position. (This includes if they are racing in the next race) Marshalling is compulsory until the lst race of the day is completed. Failure to take your position as a Marshall or to find a replacement will result in loss of points for your best race on the night.
IDENTITY FLAGS
All cars are to display the correct coloured flags as determined by the Alycat scoring system. This is neccessary to ensure that you receive the correct points for each event. Failure to display the flag can result in a no result for that respective race.
TRANSMITTERS
Transmitters must be turned off in the pits and adjoining areas including the carpark unless you are racing or during a nominated break. Drivers must check their assigned crystal prior once the grid listings are printed.
RACE DIRECTOR
This position is determined on the race day and may be a shared position to allow a maximum number of competitors. The designated race director assumes control of the event and all instructions must be obeyed.
SCRUTINEERING
Drivers may be asked to submit their cars for scrutineering. This may be done randomly throughout meetings at the completion of a race, and may include neccessary stripdown of the car. Any car found to be in breach of the applicable class rules may be subject to disqualification from that race and any previous meetings for which it is believed an infringement has occured.
TRACK LAYOUT
The track layout and direction of travel will remain the same for the duration of the season. The track layout is determined at the discretion of the comittee / race director.
TRACK & EQUIPMENT
All drivers must assist with the setup and dismantling of race night equipment.
CONDUCT
All drivers are to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times. The facilities should be well cared for and left litter free. As the sport is promoted as a family sport participants are urged not to use profound language and to refrain from losing their cool, both at the track or other club events
The consumption of alcohol or non-prescription drugs by drivers or officials during the race meet is not permitted.
Vehicles judged to be in undriveable or dangerous condition by Marshals or the Race Director will be removed from the track. These vehicles after being repaired may be allowed to re-enter the track after permission by Race Officials.
Vehicles must have a body firmly affixed, vehicles losing their body must immediately leave the track and carry out necessary repairs before re-entering the track.
Any illegal modifications or changes made to the vehicle which are found during technical inspection will automatically cause disqualification.
The following code should be referred to as a guide - Do not abuse marshalls or other drivers
- Do not deliberately collide or interfere with other cars during or after the race - Do not cut corners or take shortcuts
- DO give way to lapping drivers - DO NOT try to race them or obstruct them . Whilst holding the racing line is not considered obstructing it is better to move to one side of a straight or run wide of a corner to let a lapping car go by. Do not move on the straight as this will generally produce a collision.
- On the stand apologise if you cause an accident. If you are coming up to lap a driver provide some vocal intent of your approach.
In all cases be thoughtful and everyone will enjoy the racing.
